Guidelines and requirements
Guidelines for delegation
Setting up and getting delegation to work correctly depends on you following these guidelines:
- You must be using the Skype for Business 2015 full client with the latest updates or the Skype for Business 2016 full client.
- You must be using the Outlook 2013 client with the latest updates or the Outlook 2016 client.
- Make sure that the delegator and delegate computers have one Outlook mail profile that is the primary or the default profile. That mail profile should contain only one account.
- Skype for Business for the delegator and the delegate should be Online users. Also, the Exchange Server mailboxes for each account must either both be Online or both be on-premises.
- Both the delegator and delegate should be using the same major version of Outlook.
- The EnableExchangeDelegateSync attribute value should be set to true in the client policy. You can verify this setting by running the Get-CSClientPolicy cmdlet in the Skype for Business Online PowerShell module.
- Both the delegator and delegate must be signed in to Skype for Business and Outlook at the same time on different workstations.
- Shared mailboxes aren't supported for Skype for Business Online delegation. This is because the shared mailbox doesn't have the sendonbehalf access control list (ACL).

Set up and verify delegation
To set up Skype for Business Online delegation, follow these steps:
For Windows clients
Call Forwarding tab
- Select Tools > Options > Call Forwarding Settings.
- Select Edit my delegate members.
- Select Add, select the delegate that you want to add, and then select OK.
No Call Forwarding tab
- In Outlook, select File > Account Settings > Delegate Access > Add.
- Locate and then add the name of the person who is going to be the delegate.Hi Avital,In general, see this guide:The simplest solution is to uninstall Java 7 and/or 8. Does anyone know how Ican get Fiji with Java 6 to work on El Capitan?Thanks,Avital-ImageJ mailing list. When I chose either 'All platforms' or OSX, what I got was not what Iwanted - Fiji was downloaded bundeled with Java 8. The packages belowoffer a version of Fiji that still works with Java 6.'
- Select the Calendar menu, and then select Editor (can read, create, and modify items).
For Mac clients - Lync
Call Forwarding tab
- If the client doesn't have a Call Forwarding tab that has the Edit my Delegate Members link, and the delegator is located on a Mac computer, the delegator must sign in to a Windows-based computer in order to set up the delegation. This is because Mac clients can't make MAPI connections, and this is a requirement to establish Skype for Business delegation from Outlook.
Verify success
If the setup is successful, the delegate should see the You were added as a delegate for < Name> message and also that the People I Manage Calls For group is created. The delegator should see that the Delegates group is created.
Note
Delegation permissions usually appear within 30 minutes of the setup process. However, this process can take up to 24 hours to complete.
Troubleshooting
Common issues
- Issue 1 The delegate entry continues to appear in the People I Manage Calls For group after the delegator has removed the delegate from the Outlook client.
- Resolution 1 On the Skype for Business client, right-click the delegate in the Delegates group, and then select Remove from Group. It's also super easy to put the controller into pairing mode to connect to a new device or turn off the controller to make sure you conserve battery power. Gamepad for mac. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The DualShock 4 is the standard controller that comes in the PlayStation 4 box and therefore, comes with the design we've come to expect.
- Issue 2 After delegate access is granted through the Outlook client, neither the confirmation message nor the People I Manage Calls For group appear for the delegate.
- Resolution 2 Remove the delegation from the Outlook client, wait about 15 minutes for replication, and then add the delegate again.
Other common issues
- Delegation doesn't work if the threshold of 25 delegators and 25 delegates is exceeded.
- The Skype for Business Basic client isn't supported.NoteIf you install the Skype for Business Basic client, it will remove and break delegation.
- If the MAPI Status value isn't OK, make sure that the SIP and SMTP values match.NoteIt can take several minutes for the MAPI status to display as OK after you first start Skype for Business and Outlook.
- Creating a security group and adding delegation permissions for that security group isn't supported.
- MAPI is unavailable. See 'MAPI unavailable' error in Skype for Business 2016 client.
- The Exchange Online mailbox isn't accessible through the Skype for Business client. If this occurs, run the Outlook connectivity test to make sure that it passes.

It’s finally here! Microsoft has at last released the new Mac client for Skype for Business.
(Okay, it was released on October 26. But I was on vacation.)
(Okay, it was released on October 26. But I was on vacation.)
As soon as I saw the announcement, I grabbed a copy and one of our test Macs. The same Mac on which I’d tested the Skype Preview earlier in the year (and had several issues). Fortunately, the new Mac client installed & ran smoothly.
Get the Mac Client
Download Skype for Business on Mac here: Skype for Business on Mac – Microsoft Download Center
(Curious note: Microsoft has a page up for Skype for Business apps: Download Skype for Business across all your devices. The Mac client version available here? It’s still Lync for Mac 2011. Somebody didn’t do their update…)
So what do we have for our Mac friends? The new client is, I’d say, a fair and equitable companion to the Windows Skype for Business client. There are some differences, and (as of now) a few limitations. But overall, I think our Mac customers will enjoy this client very much.
What the Mac Client Has
You wouldn’t expect any Skype for Business client not to have all the basics. The Mac client is no different. Presence status, IM, making/receiving phone calls, Meetings (Meet Now and Scheduled Skype Meetings), video calling, screen sharing…all are included. It even has a couple new features: One-click Meeting Join. Full-screen sharing.
All within a nice clean typical-Mac-UI interface.
Being a Windows guy, I thought for a moment that they’d stripped out many of the options. Until I realized that those options were available in the Skype for Business navigation menus instead.
Which actually led me to finding some notable differences between client versions.
Differences from Windows Client
In keeping with the Mac’s “streamlined UI” motif, several items you’d find right away in the Windows client aren’t showing in the Mac client. At least, not at a glance.
For instance, Call Forwarding. You can set Call Forwarding options in 2 places on Windows – in Skype for Business’ Options, and in the Call Forwarding dropdown along the bottom of the Windows client.
The latter option is not available in Skype4B on Mac. You can only set Call Forwarding in the Preferences window, under Calls.
(As you see here, setting your Voicemail Greeting is also under Calls.)
Also, Device selection. Through which device will you make & receive calls? On Windows, Skype for Business lets you choose this in the same 2 places as Call Forwarding. On Mac, Skype for Business only lets you do this in Preferences, under Audio/Video.
By default, Instant Messaging windows open in the main Skype for Business window, under “Chats.” Chats also serves as Conversation History in the Mac client.
(If you want separate windows for Instant Messaging conversations, check the “Show conversations in separate windows” box in the Preferences/General window.)
Limitations & Known Issues
This is a V1 client. I’m sure Microsoft could have held it back longer for more feature additions, but they opted not to. Kind of glad they did; Mac users have dealt with Lync for Mac for too long.
That said, the new Mac client does have limitations. A few features Windows users enjoy are not available…at least not at this stage.
- No Application Sharing (yet).
- Persistent Chat is NOT integrated.
- No Delegate management.
- No initiating calls to Response Groups.
- Call Park is not available.
In terms of known issues, Microsoft has already published a list: Known Issues – Skype for Business on Mac
One to note here: you can’t have both Lync for Mac and Skype for Business on Mac clients installed side-by-side. If you use Lync for Mac, uninstall it before installing Skype for Business.
I came across one of the issues almost immediately. If you’re logged into Skype for Business with one account, but logged into Outlook with another, Skype Meeting functionality doesn’t come up in Outlook.
Even when you’re logged in with the same account, you may need to use the “Online Meeting” button to add Skype Meeting URLs/dial-in numbers to a Meeting invite. When I first opened a new Meeting, I had a blank invite. I clicked the Online Meeting button, and you see the result below. Instant Skype Meeting.

Final impressions: I’m glad Microsoft did the Preview. This client was all-new, and it definitely had bugs. Leveraging the Skype4B community is a good way to hunt them down quickly.
The new Mac client is stable; I’ve had it running for over 36 hours now with no errors or crashes. It has a good feature set. It’s ready for day-to-day use. And we’re all happy for that!

(Just remember to uninstall Lync for Mac first. And the Skype Preview client, if you tried that out!)
