I have a WD My Home connected to my system and I couldn't see the volume through the entire Mojave beta trials and even after the official release. For some reason when I logged in this morning my WD volume is there to be used; I'm guessing that WD FINALLY pushed an update. Some WD hardware requires WD drivers. If the WD My Passport external hard drive for Mac still does not work or not show up in Finder/Disk Utility after the basic checks, go ahead to try out the solutions as below to make it show up on Mac. Hazel mackenzie.
Repartition and reformat the WD external drive. The problem is likely due to someone improperly disconnecting it.

Drive Partition and Format
1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
2. After Disk Utility loads select the external hard drive (this is the out-dented entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the Disk Utility main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.

For late versions of OS X you will find that the Disk Utility display is different. The Partition and Erase controls are icons in the Disk Utility toolbar, but they function much the same as in the older version.
